Mura
Set within the vast landscape of the Klein Karoo, MURA is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Karoo farmhouse, informed by the quiet restraint of monastic living. Designed as a place of retreat, the home explores how simplicity, materiality and light can shape a slower, more intentional way of living.
Drawing on old-world references, vernacular architecture and a deep respect for place, Marlon Leggat distilled these influences to their purest forms before reimagining them through a contemporary lens. A restrained palette of natural stone, timber, rendered surfaces and handcrafted elements creates interiors that feel calm, timeless and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
Every material, object and opening was carefully considered, allowing natural light, texture and proportion to define the experience of the home rather than decoration. The result is an interior that feels both old-world and contemporary, balancing warmth with restraint and permanence with simplicity. MURA is a home where architecture, interiors and landscape exist in quiet harmony, creating an atmosphere that is deeply rooted in the Karoo while remaining unmistakably modern.
